What a wonderful weekend!

I don't think we've had a weekend like this for ages. One where we truly had fun just about every minute. I say just about solely because when travelling with 3 kids there are bound to be "those moments." But overall, a fabulous weekend.

We went to the Netherlands for my penpal's wedding. Yes, I did say penpal. We have been corresponding for 24 years...can you believe it! Prior to this, we had only met once and that was 15 years ago. I guess you can imagine my excitement to see her again and especially for such an occasion.

We stayed in a gorgeous B&B, D'n Beererijer, in Oostelbeers, right near Oirschot. The couple who run the B&B were so kind and despite the language difficulties we managed to get by quite well. We had a little house all to ourselves with views over the countryside and paddocks - a bonus for our equine loving children and country-loving me. There was even a cow with its calf, and although our daughter was slightly distraut to find that it wasn't a milking cow but rather meant for other uses, it all seemed to work out in the end. This adorable b&b felt like a home away from home, complete with Leopold losing his doudou (appropriately called "oh-oh") in the innkeepers' private quarters.

The nearby town of Oirschot is definitely worth the detour. Gorgeous Dutch architecture, cobblestone roads, and bicycles everywhere. We're already planning a return visit and with a bit of luck, I may just stay. Although, I admittedly may want to improve upon my Dutch to be able to say something more useful than Goede morgen meneer. U schijnt erg vriendelijk. Ik ben droevig mijn zoon uw koe deed schrikken. I'll let you figure out just what that says, but now that I think of it, they are actually pretty useful words in my world.

The highlight of the weekend was of course the wedding. It was absolutely lovely - so simple and just right. Ceremony in the quaint Mariakerk followed by luncheon at the family farm surrounded by friendly people. And for once this summer, the weather decided to cooperate. I don't think anyone could have asked for more.

So to the newlyweds, a huge thank you and an even bigger CONGRATULATIONS!

Fingers crossed it won't be another 15 years until we meet again.

Fairy Wishes

...and there's more! I guess I was more motivated than I thought to create something new for this holiday season.

Introducing Fairy Wishes, my newest fairy, all dressed up and ready to get to work delivering presents to all. I've just listed a set of 12 wee little gift tags in my shop starring this lovely fairy and with fingers crossed, I hope to have some cards listed soon.

Sneak Preview.... just couldn't wait

I'm absolutely NEVER on top of seasonal items. NEVER. It's more lots of last minute running around because I've forgotten or the date has snuck up on me without any warning. Well, at least in my world there is no warning. I suppose calendars are good for that though.

But this year I promised it would be different. This year I wanted to get my winter items together over the summer. Well, that didn't happen. I didn't actually do any wintery sketches this summer. Not one.

But last night, inspiration hit. And so here it is, only August and already unveiling 2 new prints and cards to be launched soon. I even ordered the cardstock to put them on. Really on that ball this year I am.

I hope to have these up in my Etsy shop soon for those of you who are more on the ball than me in getting yourselves organised for the holidays. Enjoy!

Introducing... Lily Cait

I was recently asked to design a fairy for Lily Cait, a website specialising in adorable tutus for little girls. What a perfect opportunity, because tutus and fairies just go hand-in-hand in my mind.

The boutique is named after the owner's gorgeous daughter, Lily Cait, honouring her love of the Lily of the Valley flower and of the Emerald Isle.

Today is the launch of the relooked site and it looks so gorgeous! Krista, the owner and designer of the boutique, did an amazing job and came up with something truly bright and colourful.

Have a peek at this little piece of wonderland. The wonderful tutus she has to offer as well as beautiful hairclips are well worth the detour.

Little Miss Tumbletot

Introducing the latest... Little Miss Tumbletot.

Little Miss Tumbletot was a commission from a customer in the US for her daughter's second birthday. What fun it was to illustrate her. I'm always so happy to have someone approach me with an idea in mind. It gives me a starting point and also opens me up to new ideas that I wouldn't necessarily do myself.

Little Miss Tumbletot is also a slightly different style, much more watercolour-ish to me and less illustration if that makes any sense.

I'm so pleased with her, I just had to share!

New Things at Last!

Well I've been away for most of the summer and am finally home. So glad to be home too!

I have been busy though and not just with kids, although I have to admit they did take up a good deal of my time (and still are).

So here's a little post to show off a commissioned birthday invite I was asked to do. I was so happy to do it as I've been wanting to do cherry blossoms for ages. Finally an excuse to take the time out to do them!

I'll post a few other invite and announcements I've done lately as well. Just because.
