February Holidays - Time to Celebrate!

They are finally here... the February holidays and boy do we all need them around here. Time to just do nothing if we choose. Time to sit around in our jammies all day if we want. I can't wait.

But actually, the jammie sitting probably isn't going to happen. At least not much. The girls are signed up for ├ęcole de neige and are going to learn to ski for the first time. They are beyond excited about it and I'm so glad they are getting the chance to learn. Somehow we've never been able to have a real winter holiday for many years. Between pregnacies, infants, moving houses, moving countries, something has always seemed to get in the way. And this year, it would seem we're making it only by the skin of our teeth. With the littlest and his broken collar bone, we're still going to be somewhat limited in what we can do, but at least it's a start!

So bags are packed (pretty much) and the house is tidied (or will be hopefully by the time we leave) and we're off in a pouf of smoke (or rather after a lot of frantic last minute scurrying as per usual).

I am bringing with me my new pencils, a trusty eraser, some pens and a sketchbook. As well as one or two new novels. I am ever so optimistic don't you think?

And to celebrate the February break, I'm participating in my very first Illustration Friday. I've been watching them for quite a while, but as per usual, I'm never quite organised enough to participate. This week, I found an excuse while painting with the kids. Yes, those balloons are painted with children's paints. And then I had a bit of digitial fun with the background. Once again, at least it's a start!
