Having a little fun...

... to cut and paste and paint and scrape.  So much fun, in fact, that I think I'll make more!

A bit of newness...

... and more to come.

A painting that my daughter requested, and definitely one I had fun doing.

It's been a bit of a journey over the past couple of years.  I had to take a step back from my artwork to re-evaluate things and figure out where I was going and what I wanted to do.  It hasn't always been easy and a lot of soul-searching has been involved.  But in the end it has paid off.  I think I can finally say that I'm revitalised and that's what I definitely needed.

And so I'm working on reconstructing Chichiboulie.  I had to let it go for a while in order to get my bearings.  I haven't yet figured out all the details of where I'm going and how things will look in the end, but I'm definitely getting there.  One thing is for certain, I will be basing my work more on original paintings and one-offs in order to keep the creative flow and expression going.  I know there will be obstacles to working this way, but in the end it's where my heart lies.

I hope you'll visit my shop on Etsy as I update with new work for both children and adults.

... the first in what I think may become a small series.

I painted this one yesterday.  I actually had planned on painting something completely different but that didn't work out as planned.  Instead of banging my head against a wall, I decided a change of tactics was called for.

And so I painted this dandelion.  I love it when a painting comes out just like I imagined it!  And I love it so much that I think I may do a few more.   Maybe different colour backgrounds?  We'll see.

I hope you enjoy it.  I'll be listing it in my Etsy shop soon.

Back to painting...

...though slightly different from what I've done in the past.

I'm just finishing up this painting as I'd been wanting to paint paper lanterns for some time.  I finally got the chance, or rather, the need to do this painting finally outweighed the need to do anything else about 10 days ago and I started painting it.  Then I put down my brushes and walked away from it for over a week.

Today is Mother's Day in France so I thought what better way to celebrate it (after breakfast in bed and a lovely lunch out in Damme, Belgium with the family) than by giving myself time to paint again.

So I think I'm just about done with this one.  Inevitably, there will be a few touches here and there to finish up.  Maybe a few more lanterns in the distance for example.  But overall, I'm quite happy with the end result.  And I may have gotten paper lanterns out of my system for the time being.

I'll be listing it in my Etsy shop when I'm totally satisfied with it.
